Nebraska Laws and Tint Percentages Omaha, NE

Picture
The tint laws in Nebraska apply to all drivers. Whether you live here or visit from out of state, the expectation is that all vehicles comply with the VLT laws.

Here is the current overview that applies to cars and sedans.

  • Windshield rules permit tinting to the AS-1 line.
  • The front side driver and passenger windows can have a maximum of 35 VLT window film applied.
  • For the back side, a 20% window tint is permissible.
  • Drivers are also limited to a 20 VLT film on the rear window.

Multipurpose vehicles (MPVs) in Nebraska follow a different set of window tint and film standards.

  • Windshield tinting follows the same expectations as other passenger vehicles.
  • A 35% window film darkness is allowable for the front driver and passenger windows.
  • The back side windows for SUVs and other multipurpose vehicles can be any darkness level, from VLT 70 to VLT 5.
  • You can also apply any tint darkness to the rear window with MPVs.

If you decide to use a reflective tint, it cannot have more than a 35% rating in that category. The state also restricts yellow, amber, and red colors on windshields.

No medical exemptions are allowed in the state to use a special tint.

The current laws and regulations governing window tinting in Nebraska were passed in 2006. It is the responsibility of each driver, even if you’re only going through the state, to comply with these expectations.
